Heather Millette has been a longtime mainstay of the Lowell music scene both as an observer and participant, regularly making appearances at open mic nights around the city, and as part of The Hearing Room‘s regular singer-songwriter showcases. With the release of her debut EP I Gotta Go to a wide audience at the tail-end of 2019, the rest of the world will be able to partake in her blend of depressed-yet-rootsy indie folk. 5 QUESTIONS FOR HEATHER MILLETTE
1. What’s the last GREAT album you’ve recently listened to?
Modern Female Rockstar by The Sonder Bombs has been on repeat for the last few months. Who knew a ukulele could work so well leading a pop punk band?
2. What band or artist would you most like to share a bill with?
Julie Rhodes has been a local inspiration of mine for a few years now, that’d be pretty dope. I’d also say Cayetana but they played their final show this year, RIP. In my wildest dreams? Jack White.
3. What passions and hobbies do you follow outside of music?
I collect crystals, I love to bake and decorate cakes and cupcakes for every occasion I can think of, I enjoy makeup for the artistic expression as well as enhancing beauty people might not otherwise see in themselves. I’m also heavy into pop culture and the dankest memes.
4. What’s the one thing about the music scene as a whole you’d like to change?
The anti-pop stance a lot of people have. There’s this special brand of pedantic snobbery that runs rampant and causes a lot of folks to look down their noses at anything “popular.” I personally love pop music and I think creating any kind of music takes a huge amount of talent, creativity, passion, and courage.
5. What would you say was your 2019 Album of the Year?
(This question comes from the previous 5 Questions interviewee Camden Connor)
