It’s truly something special to not only be in attendance, but nominated during the 2019 Boston Music Awards. The Lowell Spin staff were out in full force on Wednesday, December 11th, having been nominated for Music Publication of the Year–an honor we do not take lightly. We’re extremely grateful to the folks that helped us get there for a second year in a row.
More than that though, we have the privilege of being one part of an ever-expanding musical landscape of artists and performers. This year, the BMA’s brought together over 300 nominees across 39 categories and solidified in our minds the fact that Boston is no longer simply a rock n’ roll city; Hip-hop artists are taking the awards for their respective categories by storm.
Lowell-based punk group SkyTigers took home an award for Punk/Hardcore Artist of the Year, making it clear that Lowell’s music scene is itself making waves outside the Merrimack Valley.
Lowell Spin photographer Kristen Higgins was on-hand to cover several live acts during the BMA’s, including Jefe Replay, Brandie Blaze, House of Harm, Future Teens, and more. Check out the gallery below for the full scope of the energy somehow contained within The House of Blues this year.
